Culminating Ascent
mold melted cut & polished glass
28” X 18” X 8” (71 X 45.7 X 20.3 cm)
This glass sculpture explores the intersection of geometric purity and spatial balance through a minimalist and commanding form. The warm amber hue emphasizes the translucency of the material, allowing light to move through and around it, activating its presence in space. The sharply defined edges contrast with the soft curvature of the overall form, creating a visual tension between solidity and fluidity.
Rooted in abstraction, the sculpture draws on architectural and constructivist influences, inviting the viewer to consider how volume, line, and color can define space without narrative. The piece shifts with the light—its silhouette evolving throughout the day—reminding us that perception is always in flux.
By working with glass, a material both fragile and enduring, the sculpture aims to embody paradox: stillness with movement, weight with delicacy, simplicity with complexity.
